You weed your books. You dust them. You sort them traditionally, by color, or by obsessively buying hundreds of copies of only one title.
Now your collection is pretty as a picture, and you can put your hands on any volume you need in seconds.
Think how much time that frees up to drool over photos of other people’s shelves!
The “tidy bookshelves” merit badge is part of the readers series, and may be posted on your site or blog. Have you earned this badge? Will you never earn it? Tell us why in the comments.

Oh! Yes! I claim this badge. Both my work bookshelves and my personal bookshelves are very organized. I know where each book should be on either of the 5 bookshelves.
Glad to see this badge applies to book shelves. I could not claim this badge if it applied to tidy books. You see the bookshelves remain tidy because there are one or two piles of books in nearly every room—a TBR pile and an AR pile near the bed. Books that just came from Amazon and need to separated into personal and work reading in my office. A basket of books that I’ve read and want to pass along to other readers. . .
Just want to make full disclosure about my understanding of the term tidy bookshelves.
I <3 you for this badge. If the bookshelf isn't just right…I can't sleep at night.
Yes! this is amazing. My bookshelves are cram packed, but there is method to my madness – sorted by author, genre, and some other system that makes sense only in my head… When I moved my bookcases were the first to get unpacked. When I finished, I had to take a picture. Yes, I’m that crazy.
At this moment in my life I’m so very impressed by people who can find things in their homes.
That is one badge I will never be able to claim ~lol~ Oh I’d love to have nice, organized shelves. But my apartment sort of looks like a swap meet exploded.
@OnyxWolf: There is another.
