First fan.

Merit badge: person with hearts for eyes clutching book to chest

I think it’s time we had a little talk.

Must you continue being the amazing writer you are? Honing your craft with reckless abandon?

And do you really have to show people your work instead of locking it safely in a drawer?

It was bad enough when your mom liked your story, but now I hear you’ve gone and earned the “first fan” merit badge.

Stay on this path and I warn you, there will be consequences. It may only start with one fan, but you could end up with thousands.

Is that what you want?

Oh, it is?

Well, good job, then. Carry on.

This is part of the merit badges for writers series, and may be posted on your site or blog. Have you earned this badge? Will you never earn it? Tell us why in the comments.

    Awww shucks Em. *blushes*

I am going to gloat a bit. My Side Project that I have been working on at the DayJob has received a few good reviews from some of my Co-workers. So I guess I have earned this one.

Of course the Wife was miffed at me for not showing her first but still.

So cute! So moms and kitties don’t count for this one? ;)

@DQuartermane: Congratulations! (On the fans thing, not on the annoying your wife thing.)

@Casey: I guess it all depends on whose moms and kitties they are.
