Spelling.

Merit badge: smiling bee

Anyone can mispell a word occasionaly, but you don’t beleive that makes it acceptible to flont one’s ignorence. Weather you’re a genious or an avrage speller, its eazy too aquire alot of neccessary infromation if your commited. In you’re experiance, the dissiplined writer looks up wierd words untill there spelling meats or excedes expecktations.

If you agree with the sentiment of the preceeding preceding paragraph but want to slap me because of the way I wrote it, you might be a good candidate for the “spelling” merit badge. (And hey, check out the “proofreading” merit badge while you’re at it.)

This is part of the merit badges for writers series, and may be posted on your site or blog. Have you earned this badge? Will you never earn it? Tell us why in the comments.

I would just like to add that it is strangely difficult to misspell most of a paragraph on purpose. Also the spellchecker wasn’t picking up on “neccessary” at one point, so I thought I was loosing losing my mind.

    Em,

Yes, I’d have a hard time making that many mistakes, much less letting them stay there. (I’m one of those freaks who wants to fix errors while on ‘Write or Die’.)

It’s good they haven’t actually enabled electric shock mode, then.
