I provide merit badges for curiously specialized skills—right now I'm focusing on writers & readers. Who decides if you've earned a badge? You, and only you. If you want to show off what you've earned, you can post a badge on your website or blog. Updates every weekday.

Away we go.
I’ve thought about creating my own set of merit badges at least three times in my life. The most recent was last summer, when I even got as far as making a list of badges before life intervened.
Then a few weeks ago, I was listening to Mur Lafferty’s excellent I Should Be Writing podcast. As she talked about how there should be merit badges for writers, I picked up my pen and began doodling.
It turns out I really like making merit badges for writers. A little too much. After I had several dozen, I realized I ought to do something with them.
So from now until very late the end of June, I’ll be posting a new merit badge for writers every weekday. All the art’s done, so you can count on me keeping that posting schedule unless I fall in a well or something. (A well without wifi.)
After that, I don’t know what happens. Maybe I’ll keep posting writer badges or maybe I’ll switch topics. Maybe I’ll slow down the posting schedule or take a break. I’m not sure how it ends yet.
In that spirit, and just because the word “pants” comes up so many times when I search Mur’s archives, the first merit badge is up now.
